The American Practical Navigator: "Bowditch" Publisher: Paradise Cay Publications | ISBN: 0939837544 | edition 2002 | PDF | 882 pages | 35,87 mb This is a new edition of The American Practical Navigator, "Bowditch," offered by Celestaire and Paradise Cay Publications. This new edition is the most recent update of Bowditch, the definitive work on navigation. Nathanial Bowditch first published this encyclopedic work in 1802. During the last two centuries over 75 editions, almost 1,000,000 copies, of Bowditch have been published by the US Government. It has lived because it has combined the best technologies of each generation of navigator. This new Bicentennial Edition includes the latest advances in electronic navigation and digital charting technology. It also covers nonelectronic navigation such as celestial, plotting and dead reckoning. Bowditch contains numerous tables which have been valued for years by practicing navigators. Bowditch is carried on the bridge of every U.S. Navy ship and should be the mainstay of any serious navigator’s library. Paradise Cay and Celestaire’s commercial edition of Bowditch is a complete copy of the latest Government edition.

International Handbook of Personal Construct Psychology Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 0470847271 | edition 2003 | PDF+HTML | 528 pages | 17,9 mb This first International Handbook of Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) illustrates by its breadth and scope the huge influence the work of George Kelly has had, since its inception in 1955, on psychology and related disciplines. Including some previously un published material by Kelly and Bannister, alongside classic texts, the handbook is largely devoted to the practical applications of Kelly’s work today. Areas in which PCP is now being used include expert systems, forensic psychology, psychotherapy and counselling, politics, post-traumatic stress, education, developmental and family psychology, organizational psychology, cross-cultural understanding, nursing, policing, artificial intelligence and sport. As far as possible, each chapter aims to give the reader an idea or method that they can try out for themselves in their own work or personal context. Even today some of Kelly’s ideas are novel. Although all-embracing, this handbook cannot be comprehensive as new applications and extensions are being developed continually. It will prove an invaluable reference to practitioners and scholars from a wide range of disciplines, wherever human understanding is relevant.

Eldest (Inheritance, Book 2) Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers | ISBN: 037582670X | edition 2005 | PDF | 635 pages | 12,25 mb Surpassing its popular prequel Eragon, this second volume in the Inheritance trilogy shows growing maturity and skill on the part of its very young author, who was only seventeen when the first volume was published in 2003. The story is solidly in the tradition (some might say derivative) of the classic heroic quest fantasy, with the predictable cast of dwarves, elves, and dragons--but also including some imaginatively creepy creatures of evil. The land of Alagaesia is suffering under the Empire of the wicked Galbatorix, and Eragon and his dragon Saphira, last of the Riders, are the only hope. But Eragon is young and has much to learn, and so he is sent off to the elven forest city of Ellesmera, where he and Saphira are tutored in magic, battle skills, and the ancient language by the wise former Rider Oromis and his elderly dragon Glaedr. Meanwhile, back at Carvahall, Eragon's home, his cousin Roran is the target of a siege by the hideous Ra'zac, and he must lead the villagers on a desperate escape over the mountains. The two narratives move toward a massive battle with the forces of Galbatorix, where Eragon learns a shocking secret about his parentage and commits himself to saving his people.

#19 :: Krugman's Infectious Diseases of Children (Infectious Diseases of Children ( Krugman's)) |
E-Books & Tutorials |
| Publisher: Saunt :: 12 November 2009 :: view: 34 |
Krugman's Infectious Diseases of Children (Infectious Diseases of Children ( Krugman's)) Publisher: Mosby | ISBN: 0323017568 | edition 2003 | CHM | 822 pages | 15 mb During the first half of the 20th century, the infectious causes of many common childhood diseases became widely understood. The lives of numerous children were saved by improving sanitation, educating parents about hygiene and the communicability of diseases, and immunizing children against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and smallpox. Krugman's Infectious Diseases of Children is the 10th edition of a book by Krugman and Ward first published in 1958 (St. Louis: Mosby). A comparison of the two editions is an occasion to assess progress in the past 40 years. In the light of the achievements of Enders, Weller, Sabin, Salk, and others, Krugman and Ward wrote of living in the golden age of viruses. Although the crisis brought on by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) could not have been anticipated, the authors' optimism has been justified by the success of vaccines for poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, rabies, and rotavirus infection. In contrast to the account in the 1958 edition, the chapter on smallpox and vaccinia in the 10th edition describes the eradication of smallpox by means of a global immunization effort. Progress against bacterial disease is represented by the dramatic impact of Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine. In therapeutics, penicillin and tetracycline have been joined by more than a hundred other antimicrobial agents for treating childhood infections. ($130.00)
