Jumper l 655.71 MB hat's the basic plot of Doug Liman's alternately dry and ridiculous new action thriller Jumper, and the film takes great pains to NOT introduce anything that might distract from that one paltry premise: One really uninteresting guy can teleport wherever he wants (including bank vaults, beaches, and the head of the Egyptian Sphinx) -- up until the day that a ferocious (but also ridiculous) villain shows up to ruin all the teleport-y fun. And then we get a half-decent chase, a bunch of hyper-kinetically edited action, and a sequel teaser. For a 90-minute flick that focuses on a guy who moves real quick, it sure doesn't move all that slick.

The well choreographed bad guys are “The Axe Gang”, and they’ve just finished killing off their gangland competition. They call the city’s ineffective cops out of hiding to pick up the bodies, and go back to celebrating. It’s 1940’s Shanghai and they have the run of the town. Enter Sing (Stephen Chow), a wannabe gangster and two bit crook. In the poor neighborhood of “Pig Sty Alley” he attempts to con a barber out of some cash. He botches everything and suddenly the whole Axe Gang is declaring war on the residents of “Pig Sty”, with the mewling, prat-fall prone Sing stuck somewhere around the edges.

As Grace strives to get to know the zombies on their own terms, John is eager to uncover their darker side and rallies to get the crew permission to shoot at a three-day, zombies-only retreat called Live Dead. What transpires there is beyond anything the filmmakers could imagine, as they are forced to reevaluate their ideas about tolerance, identity politics, and the future of the human race. Although unquestionably a dark comedy, AMERICAN ZOMBIE, unravels and expands into the realm of personal documentary and horror, providing a fresh take on the zombie movie genre. The film blurs the line between fiction and reality, incorporating verit and found footage and borrowing elements from the filmmakers and subjects own backgrounds to create a personal horror film about life in 21st century America.

Dark Ride (2006) | 695 MB Usually I'm pretty hard on films that borrow heavily from other sources, especially when the premise is almost identical to the work that inspired them. It's no secret that the 2006 After Dark Horrorfest selection Dark Ride bears more than a striking resemblance to Tobe Hooper's 1981 deformed slasher opus The Funhouse. According to the gilded rulebook I keep under my bed, that's a huge strike against any filmmaker, regardless of genre. After all, original ideas aren't that hard to come by, contrary to what countless struggling writers may tell you. All it takes is an active imagination and some talent.

Masterful Mystery Tour is even tighter, more creative, and funnier than its predecessors, combining wildly disparate music so seamlessly, it's hard not to see glimpses of art in this incredible display of craftsmanship. "The Battery of Jamyz and Yoko" hilariously matches one of the Liverpool lads' most free-wheeling anthems with one of thrash metal's most intensely heavy classics, while "Everybody's Got a Ticket to Ride Except Me and My Lightning"'s machine-gun riffs reveal an unexpected musical affinity between the Fab Four and the Four Horsemen. Of course, the album wouldn't work if Beatallica didn't nail Metallica's signature sound so darn well; in many cases, singer Michael Tierney almost sounds more like classic James Hetfield than Hetfield himself, and those fans disillusioned with the speed metal pioneers' post ...And Justice for All output will find a lot to like here, regardless of the parody element.
